You’ve researched the benefits and decided it’s time to get down to brass tacks: What does a company intranet cost?
Whats all the hubbub about!? You may have heard that Microsoft has recently deployed Office 365 Hub sites to targeted release tenants! Hub sites are a new way to organize and join your existing SharePoint sites into a centralized hub to allow for rolling up content, sharing themes between sites and maintaining a consistent navigation across multiple sites. This post will focus entirely on the shared navigation that lives on the hub site and why I think it needs a little bit of improvements in it's current state.
Last week Microsoft started releasing hub sites for Office 365. Hub sites are a long awaited feature in the new Modern Office 365 experience. The introduction of Communication sites and Office 365 Groups sites has brought about a new flat architecture for building sites within SharePoint. While sub sites are still available, it is now becoming common practice to build new sites as separate site collections (Groups & Communication sites). However, when you build sites without a hierarchy, it's often difficult to understand which sites may be connected or even how the sites are connected. Hub sites will fix this issue by allowing admins to create a "hub" or a collection of sites under a single global navigation with some very cool content roll-up features. It’s not easy getting lean, but it’s vital for manufacturers that are seeking a competitive advantage.
According to the Lean Enterprise Research Centre, 60 percent of manufacturing operations are considered waste, which means they add no value to customers.

In case you've missed it, I've been at Microsoft Ignite this week in Orlando. The sessions so far have been incredible, with lots of new updates for Azure, SharePoint, Office365 and more. This morning, I attended a SharePoint session by Jeff Teper. It was so good, I had to immediate get to the blog and start writing.
Which intranet platform is the best fit for your business?
If you are researching the options, you know there are a lot of ways to go here. There are many platforms to choose from, each with its own list of out-of-the-box features and integration options, it’s hard to know one from the next.
Training is not just for newbies anymore.
The word is out. Enterprise companies that provide training to experienced employees, as well as new ones, not only enhance performance, they also improve morale, retention and compliance.
Whether toying with the idea an intranet for the first time or looking into a site redesign, all roads eventually lead to one burning question: How long will it take to build a new intranet?
In workplaces across the globe, businesses are using intranets to improve communication, manage documents and boost efficiency, but a lot of people are still confused about what an intranet really is and how it differs from the Internet.
