It used to be that you put SharePoint and all your data on your own server at a physical site you control, but the shift to The Cloud has broadened options.
There are multiple layers of cloud:
- Private clouds provide dedicated server space in the cloud for specific businesses or organizations
- Public clouds provide shared server space in the cloud for many businesses and organizations
- Some organizations use a combination of both private and public clouds.
